Review: The Memory Watcher by Minka Kent

Looking for a domestic thriller with a shocking plot twist? Look no further! I haven’t read an ending that blew me away as much as The Memory Watcher by Minka Kent (out now) did in a long time. The author herself mentions that she turns to Gillian Flynn and Caroline Kepnes for inspiration and I definitely see the by-product of that in this debut!

There’s obsessive behavior, deeply-flawed and daring characters that you can’t help but root for, a creepy child in the midst, and an addictive plot that goes BAM! 90% in before diving into a dark, shocking and completely unexpected ending.

This is what you need to know about the plot before you dive in: A woman moves next door to the “perfect” couple who adopted her 10-year old daughter years ago. The author is also writing a follow-up to this book and she’s resurrecting a really important character ; it’s coming out in April 2021 and it’ll be titled The Watcher Girl

In a nutshell, if you love being wrong about your predictions while reading a thriller, then definitely pick this one up.
